Nalanda was an ancient center of higher learning in Bihar, India. 800 years after the destruction of former Nalanda, the idea of reviving the university through a new master plan was launched and the project was awarded to Vastu Shilpa Consultants after a design competition.Through Vastu Shilpa Consultants’ design and planning for the university, Nalanda is envisaged as a campus for the future, positioned at the forefront of global education and intellectual excellence. The master plan integrates sustainable practices at every phase, allowing for incremental growth and flexible expansion. The project aims to revive and replicate the spirit of Nalanda that endured in its relevance.The book contains design processes, planning themes, sketches by architect Rajeev Kathpalia and illustrative visualizations of the university campus.
